DOT Redenomination Announcement

Dear MathWallet users,

At approximately 16:40 UTC on 21 August (block 1,248,328), the DOT token will undergo a redenomination from its original sale. New DOTs will be 100x smaller than the current DOT. Therefore, your DOT balance will be 100x higher and the price per DOT will be 100x lower. The number of DOTs you own relative to total supply will be unchanged. This will not affect the total value of your position.

In order to support this change, we would suggest you pause DOT interactions from approximately during the period.

We will inform you of any changes to this timeline.

See the Polkadot blog post for more information.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I make sure my DOT in MathWallet is OLD or NEW?
If you saw the blue NEW tag (as show in below screen shot), it is the 100x New DOT.

If there is no such blue NEW tag after the redenomination, please download the latest version of MathWallet https://mathwallet.org

Does this change apply to Kusama?
No, the redenomination only affects DOT. KSM will not be affected by this change and will retain its original decimalization. There are no current plans to redenominate KSM tokens.

Does this change the total issuance of DOT?
No, the number of base units remains the same. There is no change to the protocol, only how the units are displayed.
